PocketBook
A Zine-like activity book and info-guide for trekkers.
The aim of this book is to bring out trek-info and make the trek more engaging. Every trek has a pocketbook of its own, each book consists of trek trivia, mythological facts, things-to-look-out-for sections.
Since trek leaders and guides cannot be present all the time during the trek, this book acts as a personal guide to the trekker.
This was an experiment that we wanted to try out before printing in bulk. We started with pocketbooks for around 8 treks. All of the books needed to have a similar layout and visual language to keep the identity of the brand intact.
An extensive research was done to collect all the information about the trek, Trek Leaders, Guides and other Trek Experts were roped in.
A zine-like approach helped in this case, we were able to print out copies in small numbers (in B&W) to try it on a focus group of trekkers. The response we received was good but this solution wasn't sustainable, hence this project went back to the drawing board!

Every year Indiahikes hosts a Photo Contest for its trekkers. Out of thousands of entries only the best ones are chosen to be part of the 'Indiahikes Mountain Lovers Gold Calendar'. Its not just a Calendar but Indiahikes' way of showing gratitude to its trekkers and the mountain landscapes which enable us to trek in these beautiful locations!
Keeping this aspect in mind, one thing was very clear to me -- the design had to celebrate the photograph. Hence I kept it very simple and minimal with the photo taking centerstage.
